Activity At Karachi And Karachi Ports
18/02/2012 (Business Recorder) - The Karachi Port handled 66,417 tonnes of cargo comprising1 34,658 tonnes of import cargo and 31,759 tonnes of export cargo including 3,948 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 34,658 tonnes comprised of 27,171 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,293 tonnes of general cargo; 4,694 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,165 tonnes of wheat; 3,529 tonnes of canola seeds and 1,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 31,759 tonnes comprised of 22,731 tonnes of containerised cargo; 530 tonnes of general cargo; 5,498 tonnes of rice and 3,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
Five ships namely APL Brisbane, Helsinki, UASC Sharjah, DL Ace and Shoko Maru with three container ships and two oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Five vessels viz Emirates Yangtze, APL Sharjah, Shoko Maru, Stolt Sneland and Xiang An Cheng with two container ships, two oil tankers and one general cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths.
Three ships namely Stolt Sneland, Marcampania and Chungo Tres with two oil tankers and one rice carrier sailed out to sea on Friday, while two ships namely Kota Arif and MT Lahore with one container ship and one oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Saturday.
Two vessels viz Kota Arif and YM Taichung with two container ships respectively due to arrive on Friday, while four vessels viz Emirates Star, Shamrock Venus, Star Sea Rainbow and HHL Nile with one naphtha ship, one ethanol ship, one coal carrier and one project cargo ship respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
PORT QASIM A cargo volume of 114,187 tonnes, comprising 60,929 tonnes of import cargo and 53,258 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 4,459 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during last 24 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 60,929 tonnes includes 20,422 tonnes of diesel oil; 6,922 tonnes of fertiliser and 33,585 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 53,258 tonnes includes 2,395 tonnes of cement and 50,863 tonnes of containerised cargo.
Three container ships namely CV Nicolie Maersk, CV Safmarine Ngami and CV NYK Kai sailed out to sea on Friday morning.
A total number of six CV Nicolie Maersk, CV Safmarine Ngami, CV NYK Kai, MV Florida-II, MV STX Daisy and MV Estia are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, urea and diesel oil respectively during last 24 hours.
As many as two ships namely Arrilah and Lion with palm oil and rice respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
A coal carrier namely MV Ever Shining expected to take berth at Iron Ore & Coal Berth on Friday.
Four ships namely CV Alexander, CV MSC Reunion, MT Qubaa and MT Karachi with two container ships and two furnace oil tankers are due to arrive on Saturday.
As many as four vessels viz CV Maersk Utha, CV ACX Rafflesia, MV Topaz-II and MT HHL Nile carrying containers, cement and project cargo are also expected to arrive at Port Qasim.
