Monday March 14, 2005 - KUALA TERENGGANU: Felda will get more oil palmfruit from private plantations following a drop in its own supply duringthe current dry season.

Its chairman Tan Sri Dr Yusof Noor said this was necessary to ensure thatits 72 factories in the country would not encounter a shortage in supply.

"The supply from the Felda settlers has also dropped because of thereplanting programme in our plantations," he said.

However, he said the shortage was not serious and steps were being takento improve the situation.

Dr Yusof said that this year, Felda was concentrating on promotingintegrated programmes between its factories and plantation managers toincrease productivity.

"The fact that all the 72 Felda factories have received ISO certificatesis encouraging, but I am still not satisfied and want the quality to bebetter," he added. - Bernama
