27/01/2012 (AllAfrica.com) - The Kebbi State Coordinator of the National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Mr. Bitrus Fraden has called on the people of the state to disregard text messages indicating that poisoned palm oil is being transported from the Southern part of the country to the state.

Speaking to newsmen in Birnin-Kebbi yesterday, Mr. Fraden maintained the story was concocted to cause confusion in the country.

Fraden said there is no way the message can be true since Southerners and Northerners patronize the same market.

Daily Trust gathered that a text message is being circulated among people of the state that Palm oil transported to the North from this week has been poisoned. Our correspondent reports that the text message has instilled fear in the people as some of them have started avoiding the product.
