MALAYSIA has offered to help ease a crisis in cooking oil supplies for the UK by selling it controversial palm oil. The war in Ukraine has led to a shortage of sunflower and vegetable oil for cooking, hitting food producers, restaurants and retailers across Britain and Europe.

Sunflower oil imports may fall to 80,000 tonnes in April

According to BV Mehta, executive director, SEA, â€œIndia had imported around 127,000 tonnes of sunflower oil from Ukraine, 73,500 tonnes from Russia and 11,900 tonnes from Argentina. These consignments had left for India before the conflict began between the two countries and no shipment from Ukraine took place in April.â€
