Activity at Karachi and Qasim Ports
24/12/2011 (Business Recorder) - The Karachi Port handled 138,577 tonnes of cargo including 118,271 tonnes of import, 20,306 tonnes of export cargo and 4,346 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) during the last 24 hours of business activities ended at 0700 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 118,271 tonnes comprised of 63,624 tonnes of dry cargo including 29,365 tonnes of total containerised cargo; 2,053 tonnes of B bulk cargo; 28,500 tonnes of coal; 3,706 tonnes of canola seeds and 54,647 tonnes of oil or liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 20,306 tonnes comprised of 20,306 tonnes of total dry cargo including 14,778 tonnes of total containerised cargo; 240 tonnes of b bulk cargo and 5,288 tonnes of cement cargo.
A total number of four vessels namely Pacific Energy, M T Lahore, Marianne Danica and Emirates Kanako are sailed out to the sea after loading/offloading loaded containerised cargo during the reported business period on Friday.
A total number of nine vessels namely Emirates Kanako, YM Fuzhou, Cap Graham, Lodestar Geesis, Calmy Coral, HR Recommenation, Marianne Danica, Cathrina and Smarty are currently at the berths to load/offload containerised cargo, oil tanker, general cargo and bulk cargo containers respectively during the reported business hours at Karachi Port.
There are three vessels namely Tamarita, Prem Divya and YM Fuzhou are expected to sail out to the sea after loading/offloading containerised cargo and general cargo containers respectively on Saturday.
There is only one vessel namely OOCL Busan carrying containerised cargo, is expected to arrive on Friday afternoon during the business activity hours at the port.
While a total number three more cargo vessels namely Al Saada, Chemroad Rose and Vira Bhum carrying base oil tanker, ethanol containers and containerised cargo respectively are expected to arrive on Saturday.
PORT QASIM
Port Qasim maintained port's activities of cargo volume of 98,000 tonnes comprising of 57,920 tonnes of import and 40,080 tonnes of export cargo, while a total number of 3,627 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) were handled during the last 24 hours of business activity on Friday.
The total import cargo volume of 79,604 tonnes comprised of 15,123 tonnes of diesel oil; 10,337 tonnes of sunflower seeds and 32,460 tonnes of containerised cargo were handled during the business activity hours of the port.
The total export cargo volume of 40,080 tonnes consisting of 40,080 tonnes of containerised cargo was handled during the reported period of the activity hours on Friday.
There were three cargo vessels namely C V NYK Kai, C V Nele Maersk and M T Estia sailed out to the sea on Friday morning.
While there is another vessel namely C V Safmarine Nagmi is expected to sail out to the sea on same day afternoon.
A total number of six vessels namely C V Safmarine Nagmi, C V NYK Kai, C V Nele Maersk, M V Voge Enterprise, M V Alaed and M T Estia are currently occupying the berths to load/offload containerised cargo, rice cargo, sunflower seeds and diesel oil tankers respectively during the last 24 hours of business activities at the port on Friday.
There are two vessels namely M T Fair Spirit and C V MSC Contania carrying furnace oil tankers and loaded cargo containers respectively are currently to line up at the outer anchorage after loading or offloading on Friday.
A total number of three vessels namely C V MSC Contania, M T Fair Spirit and M T SC Bethai carrying containerised cargo, furnace oil tankers and palm oil tankers are expected to take berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and LCT respectively on Friday during the business activity hours at the port.
