PQ Handles 89,070 Tons of Cargo
13/12/2011 (The News International) - The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) on Saturday said that 89,070 tons of cargo was loaded and unloaded at various terminals of the Port Qasim (PQ) during the last 24 hours.
Around 64,210 tons of import cargo and 24,860 tons of export cargo was offloaded and loaded above respective vessels during the period, PQA said in a statement.
The import cargo included 38,253 tons of furnace oil, 10,500 tons of palm oil, 169 tons of LPG, 1,377 tons of project cargo, and 13,911 tons of containerised cargo, it said.
The export cargo included 3,452 tons of rice, 2,338 tons of cement, and 19,070 tons of containerised cargo.
The berth occupancy was 57 percent at the port on Friday, where seven ships were docked to load and unload their respective cargoes.
Three vessels left the port on Friday afternoon and there were no ships scheduled to dock at Port Qasim on Saturday. Four vessels were waiting at the outer anchorage to dock at their assigned berths at the port.
