Indonesia's Cpo Production Seen Falling 15 PCT in

JAKARTA, May 6 Asia Pulse - Indonesia's crude palm oil [CPO] production islikely to decline 15 per cent in 2010 as a result of the growing of lowyield seedlings, an industry official said.Derom bangun, chairman of the association of palm oil companies (Gapki),said about 400,000 hectares of oil palm plantations have been grown withlow quality seedlings.

After three years the seedlings will produce only around 1.5 to 2 tons ofcrude palm oil (CPO) per hectare as against 4 tons for good qualityseedlings after three years.

Last year, the country had 5.29 million hectares of oil palm plantationsproducing 12.4 million tons of CPO.

Indonesia earned US$3.5 billion from the export of 9.6 million tons of CPOlast year.

The main buyers of Indonesian palm oil country are China, India and theNetherlands.
