MPOB Holds Commercialisation Record Of 30 Percent
24/06/2011 (Bernama) - Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) holds an impressive commercialisation record of 30.1 per cent, or 143 technologies, with an estimated RM2.05 billion in market value of the products.
Its chairman, Datuk Seri Shahrir Abdul Samad, said this was made possible through collective efforts in commercialising technologies through strategic approaches.
"It was also achieved via a rigorous process that emphasises pushing innovations to reach the market place for immediate benefit in the shortest time possible," he said in his speech at the Transfer of Technology Seminar here today.
The seminar aims to provide opportunities, especially to the Malaysian oil palm industry fraternity, a network for "business matching" between MPOB researchers and participants.
On new technologies being developed, the chairman said the research and development institution was now offering another 25 new technologies and 14 services related to the palm oil industry for commercialisation.
"The launch of another 25 new technologies this year will bring the total number of technologies and products offered for commercialisation to 500," he said.
He said the technologies included a bio organic fertilizer, ganoderma control, termite control in peat, farm machinery, crop integration in oil palm, biogas trapping, green energy, milling and processing technologies and palm based oleochemical formulations.
