Malaysia Planters Fall on Palm Oil Slump
14/06/2011 (Business Times) - Malaysian plantation companies such as Kulim Malaysia Bhd fell after palm oil futures slid for a sixth day as cooking oil stockpiles surged to the highest level in 16 months.
Kulim lost 1.1 per cent to RM3.56 as of the 12:30 p.m. break in Kuala Lumpur.
Tradewinds Plantation Bhd dropped 2.2 per cent to RM3.93.
“The stockpile is above our and consensus expectations and negative for near-term palm oil prices,” Ivy Ng Lee Fang, an analyst at CIMB Investment Bank Bhd, wrote in a report today. -- Bloomberg
