Palm Oil records increase in June
26/10/2010 (Solomon Star) - All palm products recorded increases in the second quarter, re?ecting high commodity prices as well as high cropping season during the period.
That’s according to the Central Bank of Solomon Islands (CBSI) second quarter report released recently.
“Palm oil increased 8% to 7,936 tons compared to 7,320 tons in the previous quarter.
“Palm kernel rose 18% to 2,171 tons, up 256 tons over the same period a year ago,” the report said.
Palm kernel oil was 930 tons, 19% higher than output in the last quarter whilst palm kernel meal was 8% higher than output in the previous quarter at 1,099 tons, the report noted.
World palm oil prices increased 1.4% during the quarter to US$820 per ton whilst palm kernel oil prices increased 5.1% to US$969 per ton at the end of the quarter.
