ACCIM To Hold Seminar On ETP
10/05/2011 (Bernama) - The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) will hold a seminar on "How You Can Participate and Benefit From the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP)".
The free one-day seminar at Wisma Chinese Chamber here on May 21 is expected to attract 500 participants.
ACCCIM National Council Member and Chairman of Organising Committee, Leong Kai Hin, said the ETP had so far generated warm response from the business community but some small and medium enterprises (SMEs) might still be in the dark on how they could get involved.
"By organising a seminar on the ETP, we would like to help increase their awareness," he told a press conference today.
The seminar is organised in collaboration with the Performance Management and Delivery Unit (Pemandu), and will bring together businessmen, entrepreneurs and investors to deliberate on business opportunities offered by the ETP projects.
There will be dialogue sessions between representatives from Pemandu and the participants.
"It is not only about mega projects in the ETP but also about how these projects can trickle down to the SMEs and generate socio-economic growth," Leong said.
The key topics to be discussed are the Greater Kuala Lumpur project, the wholesale and retail sectors, palm oil, rubber and agriculture.
"The Chinese business community is mainly focused on the retail and commodities sectors, and discussions on it will drive their interest on how they can participate in the ETP," Leong said.
