26/04/2011 (Bernama) - The Rural Vision Movement in collaboration with the Kampung Alor Limbat Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) is implementing economic projects to boost the villagers' income.

Building shophouses; a swiflet farm house; planting oil palm and rubber are among the projects.

"We already have a swiftlet farm house that houses 10,100 nests which yields RM15,000 to RM20,000 income in one harvest.

"With another farm house to be built, the villagers can take home a higher income," said Kampung Alor Limbat Rural Vision Movement chairman Zaki Ali.

Zaki said a three-hectare banana plantation, with a capacity to yield RM3,000 a month, had also been started.

A six-hectare oil palm smallholding is also expected to be ready for harvest by year-end, said Zaki, who is also Kampung Alor Limbat JKKK deputy chairman.

Other revenue are rentals from shophouses at the village built by the Marang District Council but managed by the JKKK, he said.

He said income from economic and agriculture projects and rentals would be deposited into Koperasi Penduduk Kampung Alor Limbat Sdn Bhd to be distributed among the cooperative's members.
