18/04/2011 (Pakistan Observer) - Shipping activity remained active at the Port where three ships C.V Anvil Plont, C.V Glory and M.V BBC Nordland carrying containers and project cargo were allotted berths at Port Qasim International Container Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Friday, April 15.

Berth occupancy remained at the Port at 69% on Friday where a total of nine ships namely C.V Anvil Plont, C.V Glory, C.V MSC Magali, M.V Wales-II, M.V Orient-III, M.V War now Sun, M.V BBC Nordland, M.T Global Challenge and M.T Genmar Compatriot are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, wheat, project cargo, palm oil and Diesel oil respectively during last 24 hours.

Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood at 53,243 tonnes, comprising 34,810 tonnes imports and 18,430 tonnes exports inclusive of containerized cargo carried in containers 2,240 (TEUs) was handled at the Port during last 24 hours.

Edible oil vessel Global Challenge sailed out to sea on Saturday morning, while five more ships C.V Anvil Piont, C.V Glory, C.V MSC Magali, M.V War now Sun and M.V BBC Nordland are expected to sail on same day.

Container Ship Angles is due to arrive at Port Qasim on Saturday, April 16, while another container ship Maersk Missouri is due to arrive on Sunday, April 11.—APP
