11/04/2011 (CTRV) - The Cameroon oil Palm Growers Union is proposing a  new action plan intended to boost palm oil production in Cameroon.

Producers from selected regions in Cameroon are gathered to seek ways of properly implementing the  second phase of the village oil palm growers development programme.

The programme involves the implementation of the latest production techniques and the  use of up-to-date mille extractors .

The new approach in the production of palm oil has been initiated to cushion  the 100 thousand tons of oil deficit suffered each year in the country.

Part of the programme involves the creation of over 15 thousand hectares of palm oil estates to be financed by a mutual guarantee fund, a fund put in place to facilitate the acquisition of loans.

The plan was made public during a general assembly of the union which was presided over by the national president of The Village Oil Palm Development Programme, Ngom Emmanuel.
