Brisk activity at Port Qasim

13/04/2009 (Daily Times), Karachi - Brisk shipping was recorded for 2nd consecutive at the Port where seven ships carrying containers, furnace oil, palm oil, coal and LPG were accommodated berths at Qasim international containers terminal, iron ore & coal berth, liquid cargo terminal, Engro Vopak terminal and Progas terminal respectively on Friday.

Meanwhile four more ships scheduled to load, offload cement, palm oil, diesel oil and Phosphoric Acid also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.

Higher berth occupancy was observed at the Port at 91 % on Friday where a total of ten ships namely C.V Maersk Novazzano, C.V OOCL Kobe, M.V Rozy, M.V Gemini-II, M.V Gulf Eagle, M.V Rapallo, M.T GAS Chios, M.T Rio Gracia, M.T SC Shanghai and M.T Sea Sky are currently occupying berths to load, offload containers, cement, coal, LPG, palm oil and Furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.

Cargo throughput during the report period stood at 87,241 tones comprising 66,011 tones imports and 21,230 tones exports inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2,337 containers (Boxes) was handled at the Port.
