Indonesia to increase palm oil base rate
26/12/2008 (The West Australian) - Indonesia, the world’s biggest palm oil producer, will raise the base price for palm oil exports in January to $418 a metric ton and keep the duty at 0 per cent.
The tax is based on the average price of crude palm oil in Rotterdam from November 20 to December 19 of $490.73 a ton, Diah Maulida, director general of foreign trade at the Ministry of Trade, said in a text message to Bloomberg News yesterday.
The ministry set this month’s base price at $415 a ton.
Indonesia sets the base price to calculate the tax that exporters have to pay every month.
