KCCI asks Malaysian investors to set up palm oil refineries
16/11/2008 (The News, International), Karachi - Vice President of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Muhammad Ali advised that Malaysian investors may invest in Pakistan in food processing, agriculture, dairy farming, textile, health, construction & mining sectors.
During a meeting with a Malaysian delegate on Saturday, he further said that the Malaysian investors may benefit Pakistan by setting up palm oil refineries, low cost housing and export of halal foods as in these sectors Malaysia has advance technology.
“There are grey potential areas of investment in Pakistan for setting up of purpose built warehouses and temperature control warehouses.”
Ali further articulated that the media of Malaysia should play positive role for promotion of trade and business between Malaysia and Pakistan and in this respect benefit of trade missions of both the countries should be utilized.
Ali commented that KCCI strongly rejects the wrong image of Pakistan being portrayed by the international media.
The role of media instead of misleading, should be positive and responsive, image of actual and factual position should be the responsibility of media. Media plays active role for strengthening or otherwise of bilateral relations, he said.
During the meeting, it was discussed that Pakistan has been first state to fight against terrorism but regretted to say that the international community, instead of helping out Pakistan during the present economic recession intends to punish them.
“The media persons of Malaysia as Muslim country should tell the international community that the propaganda against Pakistan is entirely baseless,” he voiced. It was also discussed that Malaysian media should give the clear picture and promote the Pakistani products in Malaysia as well as worldwide.
Media should also play its role for exchange of mutual trade delegations, signing of MoUs between KCCI and Malaysian Chambers of Commerce to boost up the trade and business and exploring avenues of investment opportunities between Pakistan and Malaysia, he added.
