22/10/2008 (indlawnews.com) - Kerala High Court ratified the Centre’s decision to ban import of palm oil through ports in the state.

Dismissing a writ appeal filed by Parrison’s Food Limited and others, a division bench comprising Chief Justice H L Dattu and Justice A K Basheer ratified the decision.

The court observed that banning of import and export of palm oil comes under the purview of the executive functions and the court was not justified in interfering with that.

The decision to ban the import was taken after a well thought-out process, the court said.

Earlier, a single judge had dismissed a petition filed by Parison’s Food Ltd challenging the order.
