Malaysia\'s August CPO output up 14.8pc

10/09/2007 (Bernama) - Malaysian crude palm oil production increased 14.83 per cent in August 2007 to 1.558 million metric tonnes compared to 1.357 million metric tonnes in the previous month, the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) said today.

In the same period, palm oil stocks rose 10.95 per cent to 1.450 million metric tonnes from 1.307 million metric tonnes in July 2007, the board said in a statement.

Exports of palm oil expanded 11.70 per cent to 1.240 million metric tonnes in August 2007 compared with 1.111 million metric tonnes in the previous month while imports declined 62.91 per cent to 15,225 metric tonnes from 41,051 metric tonnes previously, MPOB said.

It added that the price of fresh fruit bunches was down 3.56 per cent to average RM27.12 per metric tonne in August 2007 from RM28.12 per metric tonne in the previous month. — Bernama
