India's veg oil import declines 23 pc in November
15/12/06 ( New Karala) Mumbai - India's imports of vegetable oil (edible and non edible) fell by 23 per cent to 25.22 lakh tonnes during November, as against 32.76 lakh tonnes during the same month previous year, the solvent Extractors' Association of India (SEA) said.
Imports of palm oil (RBD palmolein, CPO, Crude olein and CPKO) declined to 1.90 lakh tonnes this November from 2.17 lakh tonnes during the same month in 2005, it said in a release.
Similarly, imports of Soft oils (Soya and Sunflower) dropped steeply to 62,250 tonnes from 1.09 lakh tonnes in 2005, the release said.
However, import of non-edible oils alone increased to 49,792 tonnes in November 2006 from the previous year's import of 45,002 tonnes, it added.
