JAKARTA, Oct 16 (Reuters) - The world's largest instant noodle maker, PT Indofood Sukses Makmur Tbk , said on Monday it planned to issue new shares of its edible oil unit in Singapore to help finance the expansion of its plantation.

Thomas Tjhie, a director for Indofood, said the company aimed to become a player in the biodiesel industry as it expands the size of its plantations to 250,000 hectares by 2015 from 138,000 hectares currently.

"It would be for Indofood Agri Resources Ltd. We have submited the circular," Tjhie told Reuters when asked about the rights issue plan in Singapore. He declined to give details on the size or the amount of money Indofood would like to raise.

Indonesian food group Indofood Sukses Makmur listed its oil palm plantations in Singapore by putting the business under a tiny listed holding company, Singapore's ISG Asia , for S$392.7 million. ISG will be renamed as Indofood Agri Resources Ltd.

ISG had said the acquisition would leave Indofood with 98.67 percent of the enlarged issued share capital, and ISG would issue either new or existing shares, or a mix of the two, to meet stock exchange requirements for free float as well as to raise funds.

Tjhie said the company plans to supply the remaining palm oil output of its edible oils and fats unit to the biodiesel market, after meeting demand from Indofood's own crude palm oil (CPO) refineries.

"We have to meet the demand from our refineries first. After that we can go for biodiesel (market)," Tjhie said.

He said Indofood has obtained a permit to process 225,000 tonnes of CPO for biodiesel use.

After the company completes the expansion plan, it can produce one million tonnes of CPO per year. The demand from its refineries is estimated to be around 600,000-700,000 tonnes.

Hong Kong-listed conglomerate, First Pacific Ltd , controls Indofood Sukses Makmur.
