Argentine Soybean Oil Production Plummets to a Multi-Month Low
20/05/2026 (SunSirs) - According to data from Argentina's Ministry of Agriculture, the country's soybean oil production in February 2026 totaled 371,000 tons. This represents a 30.7% decline from the 536,000 tons produced in January, and a 28.7% decline compared to the 520,000 tons produced in February of the previous year, marking the lowest monthly production volume since November 2023 (370,000 tons). For the full year 2025, Argentina's soybean oil production stood at 8.38 million tons, slightly lower than the 8.40 million tons recorded in 2024.
As a key global producer and exporter of soybean oil, Argentina's sharp month-on-month decline of 30.7%—and year-on-year decline of 28.7%—in February 2026 production (reaching its lowest monthly level since November 2023), coupled with a slight year-on-year dip in 2025 output, is expected to significantly tighten global soybean oil supply expectations. This scenario will provide strong support for spot soybean oil prices and is also poised to drive an upward trend in related futures prices.
