Bursa to co-host China oil and oilseeds meet
19/6/06 (The Star) - KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia and Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE) will jointly organise the China International Oil and Oilseeds Conference.
The conference aims at promoting markets for edible oils and oilseeds as well as encourage hedging with exchange-traded futures among edible oil participants.
A joint statement on Friday said the conference was poised to stimulate institutional investors' involvement in the futures market and increase the global awareness of Bursa Malaysia and DCE.
“This agreement is in line with our objective of globalising our crude palm oil (CPO) prices and ensuring the maintenance of Malaysia as the CPO price discovery,” said Raghbir Singh Bhart, Bursa's head of global markets.
“The conference will not only help Bursa Malaysia achieve these goals but also strengthen the close bond between Bursa Malaysia and DCE with regard to establishing a platform that is beneficial to the global edible oil traders in Malaysia and China,” he said.
Said DCE representative Jun Li: “With this partnership, DCE hopes to learn from Bursa's experience in developing a successful palm oil futures market.” – Bernama
