Palm Oil Prices Fall as Industry Leaders Gather in Bali

13/11/2025 (Jakarta Globe), Jakarta - Palm oil prices slipped to 4,114 ringgit ($995.9) per tonne on Thursday, extending recent losses amid weaker export demand and a stronger Malaysian currency, just as the global industry gathers for the 21st International Palm Oil Conference and 2026 Price Outlook (IPOC 2025) in Bali this week.

According to trading data, benchmark palm oil futures fell 0.27 percent from the previous day, bringing monthly losses to 7.76 percent and marking a 17.12 percent decline compared with the same period last year.

According to tradingeconomics.com, the drop came as traders reacted to fresh data from the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) showing end-October stockpiles at a six-and-a-half-year high and output rising 11 percent, its fastest pace since August 2015.

Cargo surveyors also reported that Malaysian palm oil exports fell between 9.5 and 12.3 percent during the first ten days of November, signaling softer global demand. Still, analysts said losses were limited by expectations that Indonesia, the world’s top producer, could raise its biodiesel mandate to 50 percent from 40 percent by the second half of 2026, a move that could tighten global supply and influence prices in key markets such as India and China.

Traders also said the approaching northeast monsoon, forecast to last through March 2026, may disrupt harvesting activities across Southeast Asia, offering some short-term support to prices.

The IPOC 2025, taking place from Nov. 12–14 in Bali, brings together policymakers, industry leaders, and global investors to discuss the sector’s outlook for the coming year. The conference will also feature an exhibition showcasing the latest technologies and innovations from the upstream to downstream segments of the palm oil supply chain.

Organizers expect more than 1,500 participants from both domestic and international markets to attend this year’s event.
