EMTV (07/09/2025) - The Secretary General of the Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC), Madam Izzana Salleh, has arrived in Port Moresby with her delegation ahead of the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) program scheduled to run tomorrow 8th to the 13th.

Upon arrival at Jacksons International Airport, Madam Salleh and her team were welcomed with a traditional cultural performance and greeted by staff members of the Oil Palm Industry Corporation (OPIC).

During her visit, the Secretary General is expected to engage with government officials, industry stakeholders, and development partners to explore key issues, with one of the SEZ’s main focus areas being oil palm expansion. Other priority discussions will cover sustainable palm oil production, international market access, and ways to strengthen Papua New Guinea’s position in the global palm oil sector.

The SEZ program will officially begin with a float parade tomorrow, starting at 6:00 a.m. from OPIC’s headquarters and concluding at the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG).

The week-long event is expected to promote employment opportunities, drive infrastructure development, and foster stronger trade relations, with long-term benefits anticipated for PNG’s economy and local communities.
