USDA: US biodiesel exports at 88,433 metric tons in July, imports at 86,483 metric tons
05/09/2024 (Biodiesel Magazine) - The U.S. exported 88,432.8 metric tons of biodiesel and biodiesel blends of B30 and greater in July, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on Sept. 4. U.S. biodiesel imports were at 86,483 metric tons for the month.
The 88,432.8 metric tons of biodiesel exported in July was up when compared to the 67,622.2 metric tons exported in June, but down from the 97,462.6 metric tons exported in July of last year.
The U.S. exported biodiesel to approximately seven countries in July. Canada was the top destination for U.S. biodiesel exports at 83,417.3 metric tons, followed by Peru at 4,762.2 metric tons and Germany at 160 metric tons.
The value of U.S. biodiesel exports reached $130.19 million in July, up from $87.76 million the previous month, but down from $164.07 million in July 2023.
Total U.S. biodiesel exports for the first half of 2024 reached 380,490.8 metric tons at a value of $532.4 million, compared to 564,270.9 metric tons exported during the same period of 2023 at a value of $983.33 million.
The 86,483 metric tons of biodiesel and biodiesel blends of B30 and greater imported in July was down when compared to both the 99,610.1 metric tons imported in June and the 104,711 metric tons imported in July 2023.
The U.S. imported biodiesel from approximately eight countries in July. Canada was the top source of U.S. biodiesel imports at 42,279.7 metric tons, followed by Spain at 20,601.5 metric tons and Italy at 19,989.9 metric tons.
Total U.S. biodiesel imports for the first half of the year reached 985,473.2 metric tons at a value of $1.36 billion, compared to 899,650.8 metric tons imported during the same period of last year at a value of $1.57 billion.
