Govt to procure 8m litres of soybean oil

16/08/2023 (Dhaka Tribune) - The government on Wednesday approved a proposal for procuring some eight million litres of soybean oil to meet the growing demand of edible oil in the country.

 

The approval came from the 26th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) this year held on Wednesday virtually with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in the chair.

 

Briefing reporters after the meeting virtually, Cabinet Division additional secretary Md Amin Ul Ahsan on Wednesday said that following a proposal from the Ministry of Commerce, the state-run Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will procure eight million litres of soybean oil for the current fiscal year (FY24) under local Open Tender Method (OTM) from Super Oil Refinery Limited with Tk127.96 crore, per litre soybean oil costing Tk159.95 against the previous price of Tk159.45.

 

He said that in another proposal from the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) will ensure binding, printing and supply of some 353,812,39 textbooks from a contractor with around Tk94.29 crore.

 

Besides, following a proposal from the Secondary and Higher Education Division, the NCTB will ensure binding, printing and supply of some 445,570,07 textbooks from a contractor with around Tk180.03 crore.

 

Apart from these, the CCGP meeting approved three separate proposals from the Road Transport and Highways Division and a cost variation proposal from the Ministry of Railways.
