Abdullah Chairs Palm Oil Industry Committee Meeting
20/12/05 PUTRAJAYA, (Bernama) -- Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Tuesday chaired the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Palm Oil Industry, aimed at enhancing the performance of the sector which is considered vital to the country economy.
The meeting at the Prime Minister's Office was attended, among others, by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Mustapa Mohamed, Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Peter Chin and Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Mohamed Shafie Apdal.
The others were Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Aziz Shamsuddin and Energy, Water and Communication Minister Datuk Seri Dr Lim Keng Yaik.
Abdullah was also briefed on the proposal to set up Universiti Teknologi Perladangan.
Malaysia is the biggest producer and exporter of palm oil in the world, accounting for about 47 per cent of the world supply. - BERNAMA
