Malaysian edible oil firms to invest in Indian refining activities
14/12/05 (indianonline.com) - Malaysian edible oil majors are keen to invest in plantation and refining activities in India. Chief executive officer of Malaysian Palm Oil Promotion Council (MPOPC), said.
Majed was in Kolkata to discuss the scope of offshore JVs with Indian oil importers here. He pointed out that the main obstacles for doing plantation in India are the local policies and land availability.
The country representative of MPOPC, Bhavna Shah, said a Malaysian palm oil major, Kumpulun Emas, is setting up a wholly-owned subsidiary in India called Palmtech Ltd for plantation and refining.
