MPOB's advanced biotech centre gets Mahathir Science Award 2022
31.01.2023 (New Straits Times) - BANGI: The Advanced Biotechnology and Breeding Centre (ABBC) of the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) has been announced as the Mahathir Science Award 2022 recipient under the category of Tropical Natural Resources.
ABBC won a prize worth US$100,000 along with a gold medal and certificate — the recognition is among the various national and international awards recorded by MPOB throughout 2022.
MPOB director general Datuk Dr Ahmad Parveez Ghulam Kadir said the management really hopes that the excellence of MPOB members and officers is not only limited to the departmental level but also goes beyond the national and international levels.
He said MPOB gives recognition to staff who achieves excellence in the field of research and management which has an impact on the efficiency of the organisation and the well-being of the oil palm industry.
The 2022 MPOB Excellence Awards Ceremony gave recognition to the winners of the Best Potential Scientist Award, Outstanding Scientist Award, Publication Award, Director General's Management Excellence Award, Director General's Science Excellence Award and Director General's Research Gold Medal Award as well as retirees and future MPOB retirees from January until March 2023.
Also receiving recognition were the winners of the Idea Bank Award, Dedication Service Award (15 years of service), Gold Service Award (25 years of service). Excellent Service Award, Integrity Award, Best Research Station Award, Innovation Award and Director General's Special Award. — Bernama
