INDONESIA, MALAYSIA PALM OIL TRIP DELAYED TO APRIL 18

JAKARTA, March 30 (Reuters) - A trip by ministers from top palm oilproducers Malaysia and Indonesia to key palm oil markets China and Indiahas been delayed until April 18, a government official said."The trip is delayed because both I and Minister Lim have domesticagendas that cannot be delayed," Indonesian Trade and Industry MinisterLuhut Pandjaitan told reporters late on Thursday. He was referring toMalaysian Primary Industries Minister Lim Keng Yaik."The new date (for the visit) is April 18," Pandjaitan said.Pandjaitan and Lim were earlier scheduled to visit China and India onApril 9-14, to lobby for better access for palm oil in the two markets.Pandjaitan said China and India's import policies were causing a switchaway from palm oil to soybean oil, with most of it coming from the UnitedStates and South America.Malaysia and Indonesia, the world's number one and two palm oilproducers respectively and traditional arch rivals, reached agreement lastmonth to form a world palm oil association to help lift palm oil pricesfrom 10-year lows.
