EU And Asia Alternative Export Destinations For M'sian Products

KUALA LUMPUR, June 12 (Bernama) -- While Malaysia's exports to the US willbe affected to a certain extent, the European Union (EU) and Asia areexpected to provide alternative export destinations that could sustain thecontinued growth of the country's exports.

The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) Report 2000released Tuesday said that Asia will remain an important market forexports, having absorbed 59 percent of global exports in 2000.

The region, it added will be an important market for Malaysia's exports,especially non-E&E (electrical and electronics) products such as liquefiednatural gas (LNG), crude petroleum, chemicals, palm oil and wood products.
