Don't Cut Fertiliser Usage, Says Hap Seng's Madsen
PETALING JAYA, June 29 (Bernama) -- Palm oil prices may be down now butsome oil palm growers are undaunted by this. One of them is John Madsen,chief executive officer of Hap Seng Consolidated Bhd, a major plantationgroup.
Madsen said under the current lull of low prices, the plantation industryshould improve cost effiency and productivity, but without sacrificing theperformance of oil palms.
Spot month CPO is now traded around RM830 per tonne.
"Everybody in the plantation industry should take this opportunity toreally make their plantations highly productive and cost efficient,without reducing the amount of fertiliser they use," he told reportersafter the company's annual general meeting on Thursday.
