MPOB: CPO stocks 5.8% higher at 785,384 tonnes in April
The Edge Markets (10/05/2021) - KUALA LUMPUR (May 10): Malaysian crude palm oil (CPO) stocks continued to increase in April 2021, growing 5.8% to 785,384 tonnes from 742,742 tonnes the month before, said the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB).
Processed palm oil stocks also gained 8.41% month-on-month (m-o-m) to 760,597 tonnes from 703,228 tonnes, the agency said in its palm oil industry performance report for April.
Overall, total palm oil stocks rose 7.07% to 1.55 million tonnes from 1.44 million tonnes previously.
The MPOB noted that CPO production rose 6.98% to 1.52 million tonnes versus 1.42 million tonnes in March.
It said palm kernel output was 6.9% higher at 383,958 tonnes from 359,134 tonnes in the preceding month, while crude palm kernel oil (CPKO) stocks went up 8.29% m-o-m to 177,910 tonnes from 164,292 tonnes previously.
Meanwhile, it said palm oil exports in April grew 12.62% to 1.34 million tonnes from 1.19 million tonnes in March, and palm kernel oil exports increased 2.49% m-o-m to 95,546 tonnes from 94,073 tonnes in the preceding month.
The MPOB said oleochemical exports, however, fell 9.49% m-o-m to 234,373 tonnes from 258,937 tonnes, but biodiesel exports in the month under review jumped 99.73% m-o-m to 27,640 tonnes from 13,839 tonnes previously.
It said CPO imports increased 64.13% to 8,046 tonnes against 4,903 tonnes, while total palm oil imports slipped 20% to 109,847 tonnes from 137,332 tonnes in March.
