KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 (Bernama) -- The government expects that the even flowof palm oil exports to Pakistan and other consuming countries would bemaintained despite the distruption to certain shipping trades.

The primary industries minister, Datuk Seri Dr Lim Keng Yaik made thispoint when speaking to reporters at the Forestry and Forest ProductsResearch 2001 international conference which he declared open here Monday.

According to Dr Lim, the government would find other ways and means toadjust to the current tension-hit situation and would find alternativeroutes to continue shipping palm oil to Pakistan.

"We will not revise (the current export of palm oil) but we will have tofind other means to get these supplies to our customers," he said.

Dr Lim said he had asked officials from the Malaysian Palm Oil PromotionCouncil (MPOPC) and his ministry to find ways to solve the problem ofshipping crude palm oil (CPO) to Pakistan.

One solution is to transport the CPO by land through India, he added. --BERNAMA
