KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 15 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) saidthat the commercialisation of palm oil biomass is very slow although ithas presented the products from research activities to entrepreneurs toexploit them.

Speaking at a Seminar on Oil Palm Biomass here Monday, MPOB chairman TanSri Basir Ismail said that the entreprenuers had difficulties in obtainingmachinery for the products they had in mind.

Some also had little experiences in carrying out the commercialisationprogramme, he said.

Basir also said that that potential entrepreneurs "appeared unfamiliar"with financial institutions provided by the government which could assistthem.

The two-day seminar which kicked off today is themed "Opportunities forCommercialisation." It is jointly organised by MPOB and two Germanorganisations, the Frauhofer liaison office in Malaysia and theHannover-Hildesheim Chamber of Commerce of the State of Lower Saxonia.

Basir hoped that the seminar and exhibition will provide enough support interms of technologies, finance and machinery for successfulcommercialisation of palm oil biomass.
