KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 12 (Bernama) -- Crude Palm Oil (CPO) production inMalaysia increased 40,337 tonnes or 3.7 percent to 1,141,072 tonnes inOctober 2001 compared with 1,100,735 tonnes in September, Malaysian PalmOil Board (MPOB) said.

However, compared with October last year, the figure was lower by 3.6percent, it said in a statement here today.

Production of palm kernel, crude palm kernel oil and palm kernel cakestood at 323,667 tonnes, 143,709 tonnes and 165,457 tonnes, rising by 3.8percent, 9.6 percent and 8.5 percent, respectively from the previousmonth.

Total CPO stocks for October stood at 779,672 tonnes, an increase of131,708 tonnes or 20.3 percent compared to the previous month.

For processed palm oil, total stocks in October decreased by 1.5 percentto 559,629 tonnes from 567,925 tonnes in September.

Total palm oil stocks in October stood at 1,339,301 tonnes, an increase of123,412 tonnes or 10.2 percent compared with September.

Palm kernel, crude palm kernel oil, processed palm kernel oil and palmkernel cake each increased by 7.4 percent, 11.4 percent, 13.4 percent and12.3 percent to 120,987 tonnes, 251,662 tonnes, 101,399 tonnes and 237,692tonnes, respectively.

Meanwhile, exports of palm oil export increased by 37.9 percent to 898,918tonnes, while exports of palm kernel oil and palm kernel cake increased by2.1 percent and 6.7 percent, respectively to 41,700 tonnes and 124,586tonnes.

MPOB said that imports of palm oil increased 39.3 percent to 23,559tonnes.-- BERNAMA
