08.10.2019 (The Star Online) - ONE of the largest palm oil producers and exporters in the world, Malaysia has produced over 19.52 million tonnes of crude palm oil from a total planted area of 5.8 million hectares in 2018.

For the same year, its export of oil palm products totalling 24.88 million tonnes generated earnings of up to RM67.49 billion for the country.

Compared with other major oil crops, oil palm produces the highest oil yield on a per hectare basis, making it the most efficient oil crop.

Globally, oil palm is a major source of vegetable oil used to produce a wide range of products such as food, cosmetics, hygiene products, industrial chemicals and biofuels.

East West One Group (EWOG) is Malaysia’s largest and most successful planter’s scheme operator with two ongoing planter’s schemes and one newly approved planter’s scheme to be launched in the near future.

All the three schemes are approved by the Companies Commission of Malaysia under the Interest Schemes Act 2016.

The existing planter’s schemes are the East West One Planter’s Scheme (EWOPS) and the East West Horizon Planter’s Scheme (EWHPS), launched in 2011 and 2015 respectively with a combined land area of close to 30,000 acres in Sabah.

The schemes offer high returns of up to 88% over the investment tenure of eight years. The investment returns are paid quarterly by the appointed trustee (TMF Trustees Malaysia Berhad).

Investors have so far received 31 and 17 quarterly payouts under EWOPS and EWHPS respectively. This is clear evidence of EWOG’s proven and unblemished payment track record since the inception of the schemes.

The next quarterly payout will be on Dec 31. The invested capital is fully repaid to investors on maturity.

Development of the oil palm plantations under EWOPS and EWHPS is progressing well and harvesting of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) has commenced.

Sabah is the ideal location for oil palm plantations given its favourable agronomic factors and weather conditions that ensure higher yields and oil extraction rates.

In addition, the state already has an established and strong plantation culture in terms of management, labour and support services to ensure the success of the industry.

Besides development and operation of oil palm plantations, EWOG is also involved in other oil palm-related businesses including operating FFB collection centres. This integrated business model is key to EWOG in its pursuit to achieve economies of scale.

EWOG will be participating in the StarProperty.my Fair 2019 to be held at Queensbay Mall in Penang from Oct 17 to 20. Do visit Booth B7 to find out more about the planter’s schemes and the promotions lined up.

The property fair is open from 10am to 10pm daily over the four days. Admission is free.
