Rafidah To Lead Team To Meeting In China
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 24 (Bernama) -- International Trade and IndustryMinister, Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz, will lead an 18-member Malaysiandelegation to the Fifth Malaysia-China Joint Economic and Trade Commission(JETC) meeting in Beijing on Nov 26, 2001.
Rafidah would co-chair the meeting with Shi Guangsheng, China's Ministerfor Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC), the ministry said ina statement here Saturday.
The delegation comprises officials from MITI, Malaysian Palm Oil Board,Malaysian Timber Industry Board, Construction Industry Development Board,SIRIM QAS Sdn Bhd and Proton.
The meeting would review the overall bilateral trade, investment andeconomic cooperation and discuss developments within the World TradeOrganisation (WTO), Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and Asean10+3 and ASEAN 10+1 meetings.
Issues to be discussed relate to export of Malaysian commodities, Protoncars and cooperation between SIRIM QAS Sdn Bhd and the China nspection andQuarantine State Administration.
JETC also serves to resolve issues faced by the private sector when doingbusiness in China.
After China, Rafidah would participate in the Pacific Economic CooperationCouncil (PECC) conference in Hong Kong.
