Netral News (07/10/2018) - JAKARTA, NNC - The Minister of Trade Enggartiasto Lukita invited palm oil producers to work together against negative campaigns in various countries, especially in the European Union. This was conveyed by the Minister of Trade when he became a speaker at the meeting of the European Palm Oil Conference (EPOAC) in Madrid, Spain.

The conference initiated by the European Palm Oil Alliance (EPOA) took the theme "How Sustainable Palm Oil Contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals".

"Palm oil producers must unite and work together in the fight against negative campaigns. Many false perceptions about palm oil which if left ignored will be considered truth," the Trade Minister said in a press release in Jakarta on Sunday (10/07/2018).

Therefore, he continued, a positive campaign should be intensified regarding palm oil products, so that news becomes more balanced and the international community understands the role of oil palm for sustainable development.

On that occasion, Enggar also informed the latest developments regarding the palm oil moratorium policy signed by President Joko Widodo through Presidential Instruction No. 8 dated September 13, 2018. The regulation regulates the Delay and Evaluation of Licensing for Oil Palm Plantations and Increasing Productivity of Oil Palm Plantations.

The Minister of Trade said that palm oil is not an ordinary commodity for Indonesia. These commodities play an important role in the economy and provide employment to overcome poverty. In addition, the commodity industry serves as a source of income for 5.3 million workers, and provides livelihoods for 21 million people in Indonesia.
