The Star Online (25/09/2018) - KUALA LUMPUR: The following factors are likely to influence Malaysian palm oil futures and other vegetable oil markets on Tuesday Sept 25.

FUNDAMENTALS

* Malaysian palm oil futures gained more than 1 percent in the second half of trading on Monday, snapping five straight sessions of declines, tracking strength in crude oil and U.S. Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) soyoil.

* U.S. corn and wheat futures jumped on Monday to their highest levels in over a month on technical buying as well as concerns about rain stalling the country's autumn harvests.

* Global Benchmark Brent crude jumped more than 3 percent on Monday to a four-year high above $80 a barrel after Saudi Arabia and Russia ruled out any immediate increase in production despite calls by U.S. President Donald Trump for action to raise global supply.

MARKET NEWS

* Stock markets around the world retreated on Monday amid concerns over the potential wider impact of a trade spat between China and the United States, while oil prices rallied to a four-year high after OPEC ignored U.S. calls to raise supply.
