Malaysian palm oil/Vegoils: Market factors to watch Monday Sept 3
03.09.2018 (The Star Online) - KUALA LUMPUR: The following factors are likely to influence Malaysian palm oil futures and other vegetable oil markets on Monday Sept 3.
FUNDAMENTALS
* Malaysian palm oil futures inched higher on Thursday evening on a weaker ringgit and xpectations that export figures due early next week will show monthly gains.
* U.S. corn and soybean futures rose on Friday as traders covered short positions ahead of a long holiday weekend, but both commodities posted monthly declines as prospects for large U.S. harvests weighed on prices.
* Oil prices slipped on Friday, pressured by renewed concerns that a global trade war could dent energy demand, although impending U.S. sanctions on Iran and falling Venezuelan output limited the decline.
MARKET NEWS
* Global stocks ended August much as they began the month - under the dark cloud of a potentially worsening trade war.
