Malaysian palm oil/Vegoils: Market factors to watch Monday Jan 8
The Star Online (08/01/2018) - KUALA LUMPUR: The following factors are likely to influence Malaysian palm oil futures and other vegetable oil markets on Monday Jan 8.
FUNDAMENTALS
* Malaysian palm oil futures climbed over 1 percent on Friday before paring gains at the close of trade, buoyed by expectations of strong exports and falling production.
* U.S. soybean futures rose to their highest in more than three weeks on Friday, with traders focused on the South American weather outlook amid signs of weak demand for U.S. exports.
* Oil prices fell on Friday, dropping from highs last seen in 2015, as soaring U.S. production undermined a 10 percent rally from December lows that was driven by tightening supply and political tensions in OPEC member Iran.
MARKET NEWS
* Asian shares neared all-time peaks on Monday after Wall Street boasted its best start to a year in over a decade, with brisk economic growth and benign inflation proving a potent cocktail for risk appetite.
