Malaysia lowers Jan crude palm oil export tax to 5.5% — govt circular
The Edge Markets (15/12/2017) - KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 15): Malaysia, the world's second-largest palm oil producer after Indonesia, will lower its crude palm oil export tax to 5.5% in January, from 6% in December, a government circular said on Friday.
The Southeast Asian nation calculated a palm oil reference price of RM2,623.31 per tonne for January. A price above RM2,250 incurs a tax.
Malaysia had last lowered the export tax to 6% in December from the previous month.
Palm oil benchmark prices were trading up 0.2% at RM2,456 on Friday.
