Malaysian palm oil/Vegoils: Market factors to watch Tuesday Oct 24
24/10/2017 (The Star Online) - KUALA LUMPUR: The following factors are likely to influence Malaysian palm oil futures and other vegetable oil markets on Tuesday Oct 24.
FUNDAMENTALS
* Malaysian palm oil futures climbed 1.7 percent on Monday, tracking gains in soybean oil and other edible oil contracts on the Dalian Commodity Exchange.
* Chicago Board of Trade corn and wheat futures firmed on Monday on a round of short-covering after U.S. regulatory data released late on Friday showed that speculators had boosted their bearish bet on both commodities.
* Oil prices were little changed on Monday as supply disruptions in Iraq dented exports by OPEC's second-largest producer and U.S. drilling rates showed a slowdown.
MARKET NEWS
* U.S. stocks closed lower on Monday after starting the day at record highs, weighed down by the tech and industrial sectors, while U.S. Treasury prices inched higher in thin volume.
