23/08/2017 (The Hindu) - The Oil Palm Developers and Processors’ Association (OPDPA) hailed the Centre’s move to increase import duties on palm oil. “It’s a tremendous boost to the industry as the duty hike will help farmers get remunerative price and help domestic processing industry remain self-sufficient,” a release from the Association said.
OPDPA president Sanjay Goenka said the Centre’s move brought a strong sense of self-sufficiency to the oil palm ecosystem. It helps in increase of price of palm products, resulting in higher price for the produce to the farmers.
