21/06/2017 (The Financial Express) - Palm oil import from Malaysia dropped by 34 per cent in the first five months of the current calendar year.

Statistics available with Malaysian Palm Oil Council website showed that Malaysia exported 144,749 tonnes of palm oil to Bangladesh during the period under review.

The volume was 219,314 tonnes in January-May period of the past year.

India was the major importer of Malaysian palm oil during the period under review followed by China and Netherlands. 

It also showed that annual import of palm oil in Bangladesh stood at 430,686 tonnes in 2016.
