18/05/2017 (The Star) - POS Malaysia Bhd is issuing a palm oil-themed stamp series in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of the industry in Malaysia.

“The palm oil-themed stamp series is to celebrate the many achievements of the palm oil industry,” said Pos Malaysia Bhd head of stamp and philately unit Diyana Lean Abdullah.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is expected to launch the stamp series today.

The stamp features three designs, depicting palm oil in the global scene with exports to more than 150 countries for the production of food and non-food products, the technology and mechanisation that makes the harvesting and collection of palm fruits more efficient and traditional methods to collect and transport palm fruits in the early years of the palm oil industry.

The series entitled “100th Year of Palm Oil Industry” has a limited release of only 250,000 pieces each for the RM0.65 and RM0.85 stamps, and 200,000 pieces for the RM1.05 stamp, said Diyana.

A miniature sheet of this series is available for RM3.20, which features an illustration of a cluster of palm trees.

Other products such as the first day cover and standalone folder are available for RM0.55 and RM6.35 respectively.

A complete folder consisting of all three designs of the stamps, first day cover, miniature sheet and a brochure on the technical details of the stamp is also available for RM67.20.

All prices are inclusive of the goods and services tax (GST).
