01/05/2017 (The Edge Markets) - KUALA LUMPUR (May 1): IJM Plantations Bhd’s palm oil production will recover fully in the year from April 2018 as the effects of El Nino on the company’s Indonesian estates ease, according to CEO and Managing Director Joseph Tek.

“We still have remnants of tree stress in Indonesia,” Tek said in an interview Saturday. “Without any adverse weather this year, we will have a full recovery next year.”

Tek said the company’s fresh fruit production is expected to reach a record one million tonnes in FY2019. FY2018 output is seen at around 900,000 tonnes, he said.
