08/11/2016 (malaysiandigest.com) - As reported on Feldavoice.com the The Malayan Edible Oil Manufacturers Association (MEOMA) insists that there are no differences between palm oil in polybags and palm oil in bottles with the only notable difference lies in its packaging and marketing strategy.

According to the article, the public should be smart in evaluating the government's decision to rationalize subsidized palm oil as it serves as means to eradicate smuggling activities and ensure the underprivileged get to enjoy the government subsidies.

"Polybags will serve as a deterent for smugglers as it is harder to carry it in large quantities without raising suspicions from the authorities.

"Other than that, the polybags that are not durable will be damaged if carried in large quantities for smuggling activities done across the border; in which, will result in huge loses for the smugglers", the article reports.

In fact, the quality of Malaysian-made cooking oil has been acknowledged by our close neighbours such as Thailand following a few media reports that highlights the fact that many premises at Danok sells these cooking oils due to its high-quality -- without forgetting the fact that the encouraging reception we have received although it is sold at between RM3.50 to RM4.00 there -- as opposed to being only RM2.50 per kilogram in Malaysia.

However, there are certain consumers that are still in doubt of the quality level of Malaysian-made cooking oil even when it has been acknowledged by China that our cooking oil is manufactured with high-quality to fulfill the needs of the people of China, while consumers are provided with options of different brands of subsidized cooking oils that are guaranteed to be high-quality.

The article also highlighted the problem with Malaysians who are easily duped by false rumours and quick to jump to conclusions based on false allegations.

Lately, there has been a lot of rumours about subsidised cooking oil in 1kg polybags in the market contain recycled cooking and is of low quality, causing suspicion on the government's efforts to help the people by providing targeted subsidies.

FELDA emphasised that consumers can use their subsidised cooking oil without having doubts.

Among the many brands of subsidized cooking oils in polybags is FELDA-made Tiga Udang brand.

"Tiga Udang is a cooking oil-brand made by FELDA which is put in polybags in the 1kg size which was manufactured by Delima Oil Products Sdn Bhd which is a subsidiary of FELDA Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV).

"The Tiga Udang cooking oil can be easily purchased at Tesco and supermarkets and also grocery stores," reports Feldavoice.com.

Coming back to consumers' role, should the public find any individual that transgresses regulations in relations to cooking oil, reports can be made at KPDNKK.
